Instructions for Installation, Care and Use

All products are designed to withstand the most adverse conditions; however, the following guidelines will increase the life span and function of your endpin.

Please read our disclaimer before use or installation.

Installation

Take your endpin to a professional Luthier to be installed. DO NOT INSTALL YOUR ENDPIN YOURSELF.

Information for luthiers: The taper of the aluminum body has a ratio of 1:17 or 3.37° included angle. The large diameter is 33.0 mm (1.300") for bass and 25.4 mm (1.000") for cello unless you have requested a custom size.

Quick Release (QR) Mechanism

Operating the QR Mechanism

To operate your Quick Release (QR) Mechanism:

  1. Open lever away from the aluminum body.
  2. Slide pin to desired length.
    1. Push lever towards the aluminum body to close.
      1. If there is not enough pressure to hold the pin securely, adjust your QR Mechanism as described below.

      Adjusting the QR Mechanism

To adjust your Quick Release Mechanism:

      1. With your QR Mechanism in an open position, turn the tightening screw located on the opposite side of the lever. Turning the tightening screw clockwise (in relation to head of tightening screw) will make it tighter, and turning it counter clockwise will loosen. Do NOT over tighten your QR Mechanism. Over tightening will cause premature wearing of the plastic bushing of the QR Mechanism. Find the optimal tightness where the pin will not slip through your endpin without excessive force from the QR Mechanism.
      2. For greater comfort and ease of use, your QR Mechanism can be rotated to any position on the aluminum body. Unclamp your QR lever and position the QR Mechanism to the side of the plug most convenient for you.

      Maintenance of QR Mechanism

To extend the life of the QR Mechanism:

      1. Keep the surface of the pivot point of your QR Mechanism clean. Dirt or other foreign objects will cause premature wear of the QR Mechanism. To clean, simply wipe with a dry cloth. It may be necessary to take the lever completely off, clean the surface, then replace the lever.
      2. Lubricating the bushing will extend the life of the bushing and give greater clamping force. Graphite is effective and easy to use. After cleaning just rub both mating surfaces with pencil.

        Carbide Tip

To prevent injury and damage to your instrument and/or other objects, always use your Rubber Tip Protector and keep your endpin fully inside your instrument when not in use.

Do NOT test the limits of your tip. It is made of an ultra-hard material which should hold up to cement, tile or other hard surfaces; however, the less stress you put on your tip, the longer it will last. Use your Rubber Tip Protector whenever possible.

        Rubber Tip Protector

Warning: Keep credit or bank cards and electronic devices at least 30 cm (12") away from the Rubber Tip Protector. The rubber tip features a rare earth permanent magnet which can damage electronic and magnetic devices if they get too close to it.

        Use of Rubber Tip Protector

When your instrument is not in use, store the Rubber Tip Protector on the Carbide Tip to reduce the chance of damage or injury.

If you are using the tip without the Rubber Tip Protector, be careful where you leave the Rubber Tip Protector. Being small and black, it is easy to misplace it.

Maintenance of Magnetic Rubber Tip Protector

Be gentle with your Magnetic Rubber Tip Protector. Do not throw or drop the Magnetic Rubber Tip Protector onto tip or other objects. To prevent wear inside the magnet always put on and take off your Magnetic Rubber Tip Protector in a straight line keeping tip from scratching the inside of the magnet.

Keep the inside and outside of the Magnetic Rubber Tip Protector clean and dry. Dirt, water or other foreign objects will reduce the life of this product.

Do NOT clamp the carbon fibre shaft with pliers or other tools; use only your N-Pin aluminum body to hold it.
